Cleaning Out My Closet – Buh Bye HQ Domains

I guess you can say it’s spring cleaning…in August.

I don’t have the time to spend on developing these domains, but I know a lot of you are more disciplined in that area than “yours truly.” All of the domains below are being put on the block at bargain prices.   If there are multiple domains you’d like just make a volume offer.

BathtubsHQ.com – Create a home improvement mini-site product and “how to” site focused on bathtubs and bathroom remodeling. Monetize w/ Home Depot Affiliate Program (or any other similar home improvement affiliate program). Sell advertising as well as do it yourself ebooks from ClickBank including Bathroom Design – A Complete Guide and receive 50% commission.

BodyArtHQ.com – Use as a directory for body art sites and tattoo websites. Monetize with niche tattoo dating affiliate program and incredibly high converting tattoo designs affiliate program that pays 75% commissions. Sell links and advertising as you build value to flip domain later.

Food Domains – Anyone Need a Good Lox Recipe?

Mmmmm.   I sure do have a weakness for food domains.   And while some might point out that late night domaining and the munchies go hand-in-hand (and they would have a valid argument) I also like to think it is because food domains have value, even if you don’t like what is on the menu!

Here’s a taste of some of the domains in my food niche:

www.LoxRecipe.com

Put together a quick WordPress blog and post a few recipes for lox in conjunction with some type of gourmet food affiliate program links and the supplies necessary to make your own lox and presto, you now have a viable web site.

www.RoeCaviar.com

Currently parked on the SmartName platform.  (A more in depth review of SmartName to take place sometime in the future).  Although not listed for sale, all of my domains are available for purchase.  Just contact me direct if there is no obvious way of making an offer.

www.SalamanderGrill.com

A salamander grill is a high-end culinary appliance that uses very high temperature overhead infrared heating elements.   It is used primarily in professional kitchens for overhead grilling and broling, hence the other name of salamander broiler.   It is primarily in restaurant and high-end kitchens for toasting, browing of gratin dishes, melting cheese on sandwiches and desserts such as Creme brulee.   The extremely high temperatures of salamander grills translate into less cooking time than other grilling techniques, reducing preparation times which is a benefit in professional kitchens during a busy meal service.

A decent salamander grill can easily cost several $1000s of dollars.  A salamander grill manufacturer or distributor could easily recoup the cost of this domain with a fraction of one sale.  Especially considering that restaurants may need more than one, and that a chain of restaurants might also order in bulk.

Anyway, I’ll add more posts to this new food domains category and share some of my other food domains.  I’m usually hungry so I’m sure I’ll be adding more on a regular basis.

SEDO Online Retail Auction – Domains Denied

Have you ever gone through the process of submitting some of your domains to a SEDO Online Auction event? If you have then you know you can only submit 5 domains at a time and which domains get accepted or rejected may often surprise you.

It’s always fun to browse the accepted domains and wonder, “What in the world were they thinking when they let that one in?” So for tonight I thought it would be interesting to share some domains that I recently submitted that were rejected. Can you guess which of the 5 domains were accepted by SEDO for their Online Retail Auction and which domains were rejected because, “Unfortunately, after a detailed assessment, the following domains have not qualified (Quality requirements not met):” <—- Quote from SEDO rejection email.

Here are 10 domains. 5 of them were accepted by SEDO for inclusion in their Online Retail Auction (still going on by the way, you can check it out here until June 10th).

Accepted by SEDO and now part of SEDO’s Online Retail Auction:

slimdigitalcamera.net
theflowerstore.net
classyhandbags.com
finegoldwatches.com
vintagedressstore.com

Would you buy any of these? And I don’t mean would you buy them at auction or from another domainer. I mean if you found these domains and could manually register them for $8 (or whatever you pay) would you? I wouldn’t.

Denied by SEDO for inclusion in SEDO’s Online Retail Auction:

f150parts.com
totepurses.com
mensplatinumjewelry.com
vintagesilverware.com
banjooutlet.com

Now, before everyone weighs in on the use of “fordf150″ as a trademarked phrase…you’re probably right. When it expires I probably won’t renew it. It’s my opinion that the rest of the “denied” domains are of higher or at least equal value as the “accepted” ones. Just goes to show that the only opinion that really counts is the person buying or bidding.

In the end I completely understand that SEDO has to quality control the domains they include in their Online Auction events. It’s just their judgment of what constitutes a quality domain that I question from time to time.
